Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What type of players attend Eurotech® camps?
A. Eurotech® typically attracts dedicated and comitted players of all ages and abilities who truly want to improve their level of play in an exciting, fun and instructional competitive learning environment! Our program features the finest national, international and collegiate coaches available so players who attend are being coached by professional full-time coaches and not "beginning" coaches or college players and counselors. For both teams and individual players who are willing to work hard at every session to improve, Eurotech® programs are the camps to attend and will be a good fit for your son or daughter! We work hard in a 24-hour a day soccer-learning environment. For the focused player who is not necessarily outstanding at the moment and whose goals are to become the best they can be, our programs will be a challenging and extremely positive soccer experience! As with anything in life, attending soccer players will get fantastic results based on how hard they are willing to work and their love of the game!

Q: Can I attend a Eurotech® camp as a goalkeeper and a field player?
A: Eurotech® campers must choose to participate in either the adidas® Goalkeeper Academy or the adidas® Field Player Academy which are separate, highly focused instructional programs. Both programs operate at the same time so that teammates, friends and sibings are still on the same daily camp schedule - the only difference is the curriculum they are following and the instructor (s) they are learning from on a daily basis! Eurotech® is one of the only fully integrated goalkeeper and field player soccer instructional programs in the country! The camp curriculum and programs provide a progressive format and switching back and forth between the goalkeeper and field player program will not allow campers to receive the appropriate progression of training and will in many cases, disrupt the traditional "student-teacher" relationship. As a solution for younger campers who may enjoy both positions and are not at a point where they have committted to one position or the other, many campers attend one session as a goalkeeper and a second session as a field player at the same site or even another one of our camp locations around the country.

Q. Can my son/daughter “Play Up” at Eurotech®?
A. Eurotech® encourages players to “play up” in age and be placed in an environment that will challenge them. 100% of our Coaching Directors are involved full-time with youth development and recruitment at professional clubs based here in the U.S. and internationally and will recognize a player who is outstanding in their age group. With a industry low coaching staff to camper ratio, all campers are monitored closely daily and adjustments are made as needed to ensure that all campers are challenged but not put in a position to be physically harmed. The safety of our campers is always our #1 priority and our coaching staff is highly experienced in identifying talented players. All campers and teams are always grouped by age and ability and compete and train with those at their age and ability level.

Q. What do campers do in their free time?
A. To be honest, there practically is none! Over the past 24 years, the Eurotech® Soccer Academy program and curriculum has been creatively modified and designed to keep your son or daughter focused on what they came to our camp for - to become the best soccer player they can be! The end result is to maximize the soccer education that you invested in, therefore, we give every camper a full day of fun and productive soccer training – on and off the field! Proper rest periods and various fun social activities are always provided throughout the day, but this is a camp for focused, dedicated players who really love the game of soccer and who want to truly improve.

Q: What is the ratio of boys to girls?
A: It is always difficult to predict the ratio of boys to girls at any Eurotech® camp session. However, generally speaking, the percentage of boys to girls is in the neighborhood of 50% at most sites and the ratio between the 9-12 year old age bracket and 13-18 year old age bracket has also averaged close to 50% over the past several years.

Q: What is the ratio of staff to campers?
A: At all Eurotech® camp sessions the overall camper to staff ratio averages approximately 8:1 or better in most cases. This camper to staff ratio refers to all full-time Eurotech® camp staff; Site Directors, Coaching Directors, Staff Coaches, Head Athletic Trainer, Student Athletic Trainers, Support Medical Staff and Counselors. This is well above camp industry standards and has been the standard in which other soccer camps have tried to follow! The camper to coaching staff or teaching ratio is typically around 12:1 with the younger age groups and 16:1 or a little higher with the older age groups.

Q. Are teams welcome?
A. Absolutely. Eurotech® is North America’s #1 Team Camp and has worked with teams from over 20 states and many countries in previous years! No organization has worked with more teams than Eurotech®. Nationally recognized, Eurotech® attracts competitive club, high school, and various private school groups and teams each and every year. All teams and groups are roomed together and train together. Field players train as a team and goalkeepers train with our specialized Goalkeeper Academy program daily before joining their team in the afternoon Shooting & Finishing sessions and evening Tournament Matches. The coach even attends FREE with a team of 10 or more players!

Q: How do I register a group from my club?
A: Clubs and teams may reserve space for camp by submitting a Group Reservation Request Form which allows our administrator to create a unique promo discount code ($50 per camper!) that your group will use to register online (No Deposit Required!). This simply allows you to organize any tryout situations or even form a team or group of players from your club or high school without having to worry if space is available. The Group Reservation Form can be downloaded from this website or call a Eurotech® representative at 1-800-679-9830 for more information. After officially reserving space for your team or group, you can then direct all your campers to the online registration system where they will input a special code to receive the group discount automatically.

Q: Do you offer camp scholarships?
A: Yes and No. One (1) Official Eurotech® Scholarship for every 15 paying campers can be provided to all Team or Club Ambassadors who have reserved space at camp with an official Group Reservation Form and have registered all players in the group online. Traditional "Scholarships" are NOT offered at this time although we do have an extensive Fundraising Program to allow and assist ALL prospective campers attend camp! See below for more details or call us at 1-800-679-9830 to discuss creative payment plans and a roadmap to fundraising success! With our programs, there is NO REASON why anyone can't attend!

Q: Do you offer any fundraising support?
A: Yes we do – as a matter of fact, many of our individual campers, groups and teams have utilized the fundraising resources provided on this web site under the “Fundraising” section. Eurotech® has recognized that raising monies for a camp or tour in this day and age is a neccesity and has created valuable resources to assist our campers and tour participants in raising the money needed to attend our programs. The “Fundraising” section features highly recommended easy to use programs by our “Official Fundraising Partners” Reaching Our Goal & ESPN Magazine Fundraising. This section has saved you valuable time by featuring links to our favorite sources for fundraising programs that are guaranteed to work – we’ve weeded through the thousands of programs available and put the best ones in one convenient place for your review!

A. We certainly welcome smaller groups to camp, in fact, many teams that register attended as a smaller group the year prior. We also offer the new "Refer-A-Friend" program for small groups with a $25 discount per new camper referral. All individuals and small groups will be placed in a teaching group made up of other individual players or small groups of similar age and ability, assigned a Eurotech® Instructor and will receive the same high quality training and competition as any team that is registered.

Q. Can parents and coaches come to watch sessions?
A. All sessions are open and we encourage parents and coaches to visit at any time during the course of the camp week. Many coaches, parents, siblings and relatives that live locally typically visit campus to watch the popular tournament matches in the evening after dinner. Due to Eurotech® security guidelines, we ask that all Eurotech® guests check-in and identify themsleves with their son or daughter’s trainer or another camp representative on-site. Don’t be surpised if a Eurotech® Director introduces himself or herself to you in between matches – they always like to meet guests and discuss the programs! Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs and camera’s – we’d love to show you what a typical day at Eurotech® is like!

Q. Does the camp provide education regarding college recruitment?
A. Yes and no! We always try to provide all Premier (Ages 13-14) and Elite (Ages 15-18) campers an extensive College Recruitment Seminar during the program but the delivery of this session varies from lcoation to lcoation based on available staff and the actual time to do the session during an already busy day. Eurotech® Staff do their best to provide a valuable brief seminar during each session. This popular program is put on in conjunction with The Sport Source and The Student Athlete Magazine.

Q. Will attendance at your camp help a player get a college scholarship?
A. No camp can promise you a scholarship, but we can help you with the process. If your son or daughter arrives at camp with an open mind to learning, every camper will leave Eurotech® with a full understanding of how the college recruiting process works and what college coaches are looking for. It is never guaranteed, but Eurotech® typically does feature top college coaches on staff at some locations in addition to their highly acclaimed national and international coaching staff roster, but our camp was originally created and designed as a focused instructional skill development program to prepare dedicated players for the next level and provide as competitive an environment as possible. Our camp also has a large network of college coaches that we work with on a regular basis who are always looking for "special" players.

Q: Will I receive confirmation after I register my child?
A: Yes. All online registrations will receive an immediate confirmation via email which will direct you to our online based "Confirmation Center" where you can download Medical Forms, Directions to Camp, Player Profiles and more. However, registrations via phone, fax or mail will receive confirmation via e-mail OR phone, providing a valid e-mail address is listed. Make sure to include a valid e-mail address on the application where indicated. Confirmation packets are NEVER mailed out - everything you need will be featured on the website under the GREEN "Confirmation Center" button located at the upper right side of every page on our website! Please call us at 1-800-679-9830 if you have difficulty finding it!

Q: How do I pay the balance of my account?
A: All camp balances must be paid in full PRIOR to the first day of camp of the current year and any new registrations made after June 15th must be PAID IN FULL at the time of registration. All payments can be made by logging in to the MY ACCOUNT link at the top of every webpage and using your unique password and email address. If paying by Bank Cashier’s Check or Personal Check, please mail to: Eurotech Soccer Academies Inc., 11815 Fountain Way, Suite 300, Newport News, VA 23606 USA. We will immediately post "mailed" payments to your online account. You call also call 1-800-679-9830 and pay your balance via phone with one of our representatives during normal business hours.

Q: How much spending money should a camper bring?
A: Eurotech® DOES NOT utilize a camp bank system and campers are always responsible for any money that they bring. Although never guaranteed, some sites will feature a campus snack bar or campus store which is open daily but NOT operated by Eurotech®. $20 is plenty for most campers to utilize for laundry, vending machines, etc. Keep in mind that ALL residential/overnight campers participate in our exclusive nightly "Pizza Party" which serves as the fourth provided meal of the day and is already included with tuition!

Q: Does Eurotech® operate a camp store?
A: Eurotech® is not a retailer, although there is typically a Eurotech®-adidas® camp store available during the first day of registration for campers’ additional equipment needs as well as family souvenirs, pending the size of your camp.

Q: Can campers bring snacks and drinks for their rooms?
A: Yes, most campers bring extra snacks, sports drinks and bottled water for their room. As mentioned above, some sites have a snack bar available to campers at various hours of the day and for those sites that do not have a snack bar, vending machines are usually available. Dinner is the last meal served daily from  approximately 5-6pm in addition to the included nightly Eurotech® "Pizza Party" which takes place after the evening tournament matches for our Residential/Overnight campers – perfect timing for hungry soccer players!

Q: Can campers bring televisions, refrigerators, video games and DVD machines for their rooms?
A: Yes, it is allowed and some campers do indulge in the “comforts of home” while at camp, but we suggest two things to keep in mind: 1) As a camp operator and given our very busy daily schedule, there will be very little time to take advantage of these luxuries and 2) As a parent, before you break your back and load up the family SUV, ask yourself honestly if your child can do without these “luxury items” for one week? In addition, Eurotech® WILL NOT be responsible for any "misplaced" or "stolen" luxury items during the week of camp!

Q: Are cell phones allowed at camp?
A: Eurotech® campers are welcome to bring cell phones to camp. Eurotech® certainly recognizes that communication with your child while at camp is important and also realize that most dormitories are no longer equipped with active pay phones, however, there are always staff phones available for use if necessary. Our cell phone usage guidelines will be discussed on the first day of camp and are typically only to be used in-between field sessions and will be restricted after lights out! The Site Director and most coaching staff will always have 24-hour access to a cell phone and will assist younger campers who need to call home if needed.

Q: Can Field Players and Goalkeepers room together & How much time will they spend together during the day?
A: Field Players and Goalkeepers may always room together upon request regardless if they came as friends or teammates. They will be in different teaching groups on the field but if they are the same age, there is a good chance that they will also compete together on the field during different training sessions and tournament play. Goalkeepers who attend with teams will always join their own team for the tournament matches in the evening and during special sessions involving shooting/finishing or demonstrations. In addition, Field Players and Goalkeepers will always have the opportunity to walk to and from the field together, eat their meals together, socialize and even have swim time together if swimming facilities are available at your site!

Q: Is my roommate request "Guaranteed"?
A: Yes and No! Honestly, we are unable to 100% “guarantee” roommate requests as dorm layouts differ from site to site, although we typically are able to accomodate 99.9% of requests. As an example and some summer’s seemingly often, we are scheduled to occupy a certain dormitory and at the last minute will be asked to occupy a different dormitory altogether. With the number of beds in each room differing from dormitory to dormitory and from site to site, it is virtually impossible to guarantee room assignments prior to check-in although we do make every effort to fulfill your requests! Our staff does an incredible amount of work on getting rooming assignments “just right” prior to your arrival and we will always do everything in our power to honor that request if it is not as expected! Patience will play a big part in some cases at your first day camp registration - please always keep in mind we will do the best we can to get you in a room with your friend or teammates!

Q: Should I mail my Medical Form to the Eurotech® National Office?
A: NO - Please bring your Medical Form to camp with you on the first day of camp. You will be required to hand in these forms at check-in during registration and you will have the opportunity to meet and speak to our Athletic Training Staff if needed about any special medical situations that we need to be aware of. Please note that under ACA (American Camping Association) guidelines and as Eurotech® Policy, campers who do not have these forms will not be permitted to participate in field sessions until the forms are received and fully completed with proper signatures, insurance information, etc. No doctor signatures or "Physicals" are necessary to attend camp although the Eurotech® Medical Form does need to be completed in full by a parent or legal guardian and on file with Eurotech®!

Q: What happens if I have to cancel at the last minute?
A: Please see the Eurotech® Refund and Cancellation Policies featured in the “Registration Information” section of the event overview pages.

Q: Is water provided on the field during each session?
A: Absolutely! Plenty of water and mutiple water stations per field are available at ALL times. Depending on the layout of our fields, Official Eurotech® Water & Medical Stations are always set up at every field site. It is mandatory for campers to bring their own water bottles to all field sessions and they are encouraged keep bottled water and sports drinks like Powerade® and Gatorade® in their rooms for consumption between sessions.

Q: Who are the camp Medical Staff? What do they do?
A: Eurotech® always utilizes the services of an NATA Certified Head Athletic Trainer at every site in addition to Assistant Athletic Trainers and various other certified medical support staff as per ACA guidelines. The amount of NATA Certified AT’s on site is dictated by the total number of campers to be served during each session. Eurotech® Medical Staff are typically on or near the site 24/7 and offer field coverage at all times as well as being available off the field on an as needed basis. The Medical Staff will provide any necessary and appropriate treatment as he or she sees fit and in all cases, parents or guardians will be notified immediately of any injuries/illnesses that will keep the camper from participating in camp activities. In the case of a serious injury, campers will be taken to a local medical facility. In the rare case of a true emergency, it is Eurotech® policy to call 911 immediately. In any event, Eurotech® Medical Staff always have access to campus medical staff as well as knowledge and a working relationship with the nearest medical facility.

Q: What if my son/daughter wears eyeglasses? Is wearing a cast?
A: All campers that wear eyeglasses are required to wear protective sport goggles during every session. In the event that your child is dealing with a pre-existing medical issue that may effect his level of participation at camp or his/her general comfort, please take the time to speak to our Medical Staff on the first day of camp registration with these and any additional medical related questions or concerns.

Q: Is there campus security?
A: All of our campuses have 24-hour campus safety patrols and campus police/security staff. They have nightly presense in and around our dorms and are in constant direct daily communication with our on-site Director. In addition, our Eurotech® Camp Staff is on duty 24 hours a day, on the fields, in the dormitories, in the cafeteria, at the pool….wherever our campers are present. Eurotech® camper’s are never left unsupervised on campus! All campers are escorted in between sessions, meals and social activities as a group by on-site Eurotech® Staff!

Q: Is there a registration deadline? Do camps sell-out? Is there a waiting list?
A: Eurotech® will accept applications right up to the start of camp where openings exist. Our long standing camp sessions do start to sell out by late May while some of our “newer” sites may take longer to sell out. Where needed, we always accept names for a waitlist in case of cancellation. ALL CAMP LOCATIONS will adhere to a strict enrollment limit and these limits are typcially posted on camp event pages in the late spring. The enrollment limits are in place to allow Eurotech® to provide the highest quality camp and learning experience possible to our campers and allow for proper camper to staff ratios!

Q: What happens if there is bad weather?
A: Eurotech® will always conduct training sessions in the rain and inclement weather at the discretion of the attending Site Director and/or Head Athletic Trainer. Most sites have indoor facilities that can be used or the schedule may be changed slightly to accommodate rare weather conditions. However, Eurotech® campers will NEVER train in lightning and severe weather including extremely high heat indexes. In the rare event of missed time due to inclement weather, Eurotech® Directors will always make every effort to reschedule missed sessions or simply rearrange the daily schedule to accommodate lost field time during the week. In the 24 years of our programs, we have never lost training time due to weather situations!
